Information we receive
When you sign in with Google or X through our authentication provider, we receive the provider information needed for login and your profile: your name, email address, profile photo, and provider account identifier. We use that information for account identity, not advertising.
PublicTide also receives operational information about reading, preferences, and creator actions you choose to take, such as asking for a closer look at a Topic. Cookies and session data keep the site and account session working.
How it is used
We use this information to authenticate you, show the publication experience, remember preferences, enforce access rules, and operate creator workflows. A login does not subscribe you, send email, or post to a social account.
When a research feature is used, the research service receives only the inputs submitted for that feature and the service data needed to return its result. PublicTide does not hand account credentials to that service. Google OAuth data is used for login and profile purposes, not research or advertising, and is not sold.
Service providers
An authentication provider handles sign-in. Hosting, storage, and operational monitoring providers may process the relevant information needed to run, protect, and troubleshoot PublicTide. Where a creator turns on PublicTide’s editing tools for their own uploads, an automated processing provider may receive that upload’s audio, video or text, and the creator’s own notes about it, to produce a transcript or draft notes, chapters and titles. The results are drafts: the creator keeps, edits or discards them, and nothing is published because of them. External source-image and source-link hosts may receive ordinary browser technical information when your browser loads those resources.
Launch updates
If you request launch updates, we store your email address, the time and version of your consent, and whether you opt out. We use this separate list for PublicTide launch updates. It does not create an account or subscribe you to a creator. Only authorized site administrators can access the list.
You can opt out through the unsubscribe link included with a launch update or contact us below. We keep the list while it is needed for launch updates; after an opt-out, we retain a suppression record so another signup request does not silently add you again. We use short-lived rate limits to protect the form without storing your raw IP address in the signup record.
Pilot requests
If you request a pilot for your organization, we store your name, organization, role, work email and the show or series you name, with the time we received them. We use them only to reply to you about a pilot: they do not create an account or subscribe you to anything, they are not written to our logs, analytics or audit records, and only authorized site administrators can read them. We keep a request until you ask us to delete it, using the contact below. Short-lived rate limits protect the form without storing your raw IP address.
Reports
When you report a work or a publication, PublicTide keeps your report, its reason and any note you add, so a person at PublicTide can review it. The creator never sees who sent a report. You can see your own reports and what happened to them. A note is erased 12 months after its report is closed.
Your age
When you create an account, PublicTide asks for your month and year of birth. They are used once to check your age and are never stored, logged or sent anywhere. PublicTide keeps only an age range: 13 to 17, or 18 and over. If you are under 13, no account is created and PublicTide deletes any account details it received.
Copyright notices and counter-notices
A copyright notice is kept with the work it names. If a creator sends a counter-notice, PublicTide sends it, including the creator's name, address and telephone number, to the person who sent the notice, as the law requires. Notices, counter-notices and decisions are kept for three years.
Uploads, imports and notices
When a creator uploads media, PublicTide stores the file and what processing produces from it, such as its length and captions. When a creator connects a channel, PublicTide reads its public listing on a schedule and keeps the items the creator confirms. A removed upload is kept, not played, while its removal is in force. Notices about a creator's own work are shown in the Studio.
Creators and subscriptions
Creators control their masthead, audience, subscriber relationship, and payment relationship. A subscription is handled through the creator’s stated destination, not created by signing in to PublicTide.
Retention and your choices
Account data is kept while it is needed to operate the account and service, resolve disputes, or comply with law. If you request deletion, limited records may remain for those purposes. Contact jeremy@aculeus.ai to ask for access, correction, or deletion, or to revoke an account connection. You can also disconnect through Manage account or the provider’s account settings. Deleting a PublicTide account does not necessarily delete a creator’s separate subscriber records.
